Ipernity – A Flicker Alternative?

There is a big buzz about the news where Flickr has just launched it’s video service for PRO members. Well it is a good idea, where you can put travel videos along with your photos. The limitation of 90 seconds per video and also needing to pay for the video uploading just doesn’t seem a major attraction for me yet.

After a few weeks of searching, i found a service called Ipernity. Ipernity is a place where you can upload any kind of media and share it to the world. It works in similar ways as Flickr, just that you can upload video and also audio to go with your images and put them in the same album. This is what i exactly wanted! But wait, everything good will always have some kind of drawback. Ipernity site loads very slowly, and it is rather bad. This means as you get more hits, the site seems to slowdown. Another thing is the upload bandwidth is limited to 200 MB per month. This is not much, unless you get a premium account.

To those who wish to try it out, Ipernity looks promising as a new social network provider. But the fact that it will not beat Flickr remains to be true. You can also check out another provider of same service called VOX.
