Got my new U Mobile Prepaid Pack (018) 2 days ago and been playing with it a while. Yes, yet again i opted to pay extra to obtain a VIP number and got one. Not revealing the number for now! :p

UMobile

As i tried it, the line seems to be quite stable for now and the quality was good. You only pay for what you use, no block charges. That is good for those mobile users who uses “Call me back” and hangs up :p

From the UMobile website:

U Mobile 018 Prepaid is a hassle-free prepaid plan that caters just for you. With our per second billing, you pay for only what you need. If it’s just a ‘Hi’ that takes a second, why pay for an entire 30-second block?

U Mobile 018 Prepaid starter pack is offered nationwide and is applicable to 2G and 3G mobile phones. 3G services such as video call, videomail, MMS and data services are currently available only in the Klang Valley.

The charges are reasonable, and they made it meaningful based on their telco number. There are certain limitations, for instance to use the MMS, Data and Video Call you will need to be in Klang Valley for now. This is something we could bare for now, but not for long!

Charges

The new Sim Pack is actually free, you just need to flash your IC and they will give you the Sim Pack. It comes preloaded with RM1. That means you get the Sim Pack + RM 1 for FREE! But there is a catch, all the dealer shops that i checked requested me to at least buy a RM 10 min topup card before they provide the Sim Pack to be, i didn’t feel that it was too bad.

The recharge cards for your credit is easily available in dealer mobile shops. I liked the design of the topup and also the design of the sim pack packaging. Very attractive.

UMobile

Recently they have introduced a new cool concept where users get to choose what they want to be provided by U Mobile. Now that is something everyone would love to have! For now the Telco is still new and lets see how they compete with other Telco’s without bitching too much. As for me, i am happy with U Mobile (for now at least!) …

Sounds good. Can you use 3G with that card?

Meihiao -> Yes we can, but currently the 3G seems to work only in Klang Valley. I tried it and the connection was stable and fast.
